Culmination Ceremony Marks Milestone for TIP Trainees at NMSCST

The Insights Publication (TIP) at Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSCST) recently held a Culmination Program for the TIP Recruits Journalistic Skill Training. This event took place at 10 a.m. in the TIP Office, located on the 2nd floor of the Old Administration Building, with 17 out of 65 new trainee students from various journalistic fields in attendance.
Program Overview
The program commenced with an opening prayer, followed by an orientation led by Ms. Marydel T. Sayson, the Publication Adviser. During this session, she discussed the operation of the school publication, outlining essential do's and don'ts for the trainees. Ms. Sayson emphasized the commitment required to be part of the school's publication, stating, "Matira, Matibay," which translates to resilience and strength. She encouraged students to exert extra effort and strive for excellence.
Guest Speakers
The culmination was further enriched by insights from two guest speakers:
• Ms. Luanne Kay R. Clamonte, Director of the Student Affairs and Services Office
• Dr. Mar John B. Dauyo
Ms. Clamonte inspired the trainees by highlighting the power of journalism: "Journalism is about telling the truth, inspiring change, and representing the voice of the student body." She urged trainees to tackle complex community issues fearlessly. Dr. Dauyo reaffirmed the support from the Student Affairs and Services Office, stating their commitment to providing necessary resources for technology and equipment to enhance the skills of TIP staff.
Recognition and Conclusion
The messages from Ms. Clamonte and Dr. Dauyo were both motivating and reassuring for the trainees, reinforcing that their work could significantly impact their community through well-crafted articles covering relevant topics. To recognize their hard work during a rigorous month-long screening process, each of the 17 official trainees received a certificate acknowledging their dedication. The event concluded with a group pictorial featuring all trainees alongside members of The Insights Publication. In closing, it was noted that pursuing a career in journalism is challenging yet rewarding.
