The Research Colloquium 2025, organized by the College of Education (COE), was held on May 27, 2025, at the Convention Hall in the Administration Building of Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSCST). The event was dedicated to COE students and centered around the theme "Innovate, Inquire, Inspire (13): Future Educators as Research-Driven Change Makers." It was attended by research presenters from fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BEED) students, fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (BSED) Major in Science students, and fourth-year BSED Major in Math students. Representatives from second-year year BSED Major in Math and first-year students enrolled in Research 101 also participated, making the event a meaningful gathering of aspiring educators dedicated to inquiry, innovation, and educational transformation.
The program included key messages from COE leaders, highlighting the value of research. Dr. Julie Mar M. Regis underscored its role in education, while Mr. Steve I. Embang gave the welcome message. Inspirational remarks were shared by Ma'am Kris Mae B. Lagang, OIC-President, and Dr. Kalyani Rao delivered the keynote address, introduced by Dr. Liezl Marie B. Dagondon.
In her keynote address, Dr. Rao inspired future educators to harness their passion for meaningful change by engaging in action research, adopting evidence-based practices, advocating for systemic reform, and pursuing collaborative scholarly work. An open forum sparked thoughtful discourse among attendees. First-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) Major in Mathematics student, Charles Jaebert B. Camillo, asked: “As someone new to research, how do I find the right people to collaborate with, and what should I consider to make sure the collaboration is successful and fair for everyone involved?" Dr. Rao responded with precise and detailed insights, emphasizing the importance of selecting collaborators who are responsible, communicative, and share a common vision. Following this, first-year student Chelsey Czelina Gaan from BEED inquired: "Can you give us tips on identifying a good topic that deals with action research?" Dr. Rao addressed this by explaining that a strong action research topic should begin with identifying real and relevant problems within the immediate community. She underscored that impactful research stems from authentic needs, making it both meaningful and practical.
Mr. Meilgreg Y. Opeña, a faculty member from COE, formally introduced the panel of evaluators and read the criteria for the selection of awardees, including Best Poster Presentation, Best Oral Presenters, and Best in Research Paper.

The research presentations were conducted simultaneously at two venues: the Research, Innovation, and Development, and Extension (RIDE) Office and the VPAASS Conference Hall. These parallel sessions allowed for a dynamic and efficient showcasing of student research across various disciplines.
Following the simultaneous presentations, the awarding ceremony took place, recognizing outstanding achievements in three categories: Best Poster Presentation, Best Oral Presenters, and Best in Research Paper. This segment served as a celebration of the students’ hard work, creativity, and commitment to academic excellence.
